A Story in Stone
A singular sanctuary divided equally between two deities and two ancient worlds.
Kom Ombo occupies a dramatic promontory above the Nile. Its unusual double plan honours both Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, the falcon god.
Two entrances, halls and sanctuaries mirror one another along a central axis. At sunset, the west-facing stone takes on a deep amber colour above the water.

Practical Note
The temple is usually visited in the late afternoon between Edfu and Aswan. It is partly open-air, so sun protection remains useful.
Crocodile Museum
The adjacent collection displays mummified crocodiles found nearby.
Sunset arrival
The temple's riverside position is especially beautiful in the final light.
